It is situated in the center of the Ambroz Valley. The name of the town came from the Roman Road whose route is still there today on it's main street. Today, on the main street you can find well conserved remains and a Roman Bridge. The Plaza del Mercado or the Severiano Masides street stand out because of their beauty as well. There are many typical wooden balconies.
The parochy of our Lady Elm, from XV century, in the highest part of the village, has a transitional gothic style , something not frequently seen in Spain. The buttress, the rectangular tower and it's chapel will catch your attention. In turn, the San Servando church rises in the lower part of the parochy.
Aside from the mountains and pasture conserves some examples of important trees such as a cork tree can be found here in the country house "Cerca de la Fresnada". The tree is protected by the government because it is one of the major cork trees in the world. The remains of old elms in the Plaza of the Schools are also protected.
Like a sign of identity, many people continue to cultivate paprika or make chestnut baskets in small family industries.
