Going up to the village is a real treat in terms of scenery given that is more than 1,000 meter tall. From the Garganta lookout tower you can appreciate the serene beauty of the valley. In it's surroundings there are several chestnuts, oak trees, birch woods, holly, gorges, ponds, and a natural swimming pool.
The ski slope "La Covatilla" is also nearby.
It is the only place in the valley that still has migrating livestock thus, you can enjoy delicious cheese and meat. The young bulls also give fame to this charming village because of the bullfighting that takes place during the festivals in September.
The popular architecture from the Plaza neighborhood and it's street have remained immaculate throughout the time. In the Asunción Church (XVI- XVIII), you can find the Castañar Virgin, patron of the village. Around the San Gregorio chapel they celebrate one of the most popular processions.
